Hello Jennie Elliott families!
The school was buzzing all week with activities, farewells and packing up the 2024-25 school year!
Farewell to Our Grade 6’s
Monday marked a special milestone as we said farewell to our Grade 6 students during a beautiful certificate ceremony. For many, this will be the longest they stay in one school, making the transition especially meaningful. We heard lots of reminiscing of their time at Jennie Elliott that they’ll carry forward as fond memories of Jennie Elliott. We hope to hear all about the new memories they will start to make in Junior High when they return for visits in the fall.
Oh Canada PlayDay Dance Party!
PlayDay was another smashing success as we played and danced our way through a beautiful day of sunshine and happiness! It was wonderful to see everyone proudly wearing their red and whites, Canadian flags and coming together in a true spirit of joy and unity. A big shout-out goes to our amazing teacher organizers for planning such a fun-filled day, our parent volunteers that made the events possible, to our School Council for adding extra magic with bubble machines and the impressive tent shelter, and to Mr. Stoddard - our fantastic DJ - for turning the field into the ultimate dance party!
Courtyard Magic
We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Cheryl Walker, a devoted grandparent of two Jennie Elliott students, for her remarkable contribution to our school. Cheryl has generously dedicated countless hours to revitalizing the courtyard garden - tirelessly weeding and tending to the space until it once again became a beautiful, peaceful haven for learning and reflection. Her care and commitment have made a meaningful impact on a special part of our school community.
We invite you to see the transformation for yourself during our Welcome Back & Meet the Teacher event on September 18th!
2025-26 Office and Bell Times
Earlier in the year we messaged that the new school year will also bring new bell times for our school. Please check our website for the new times listed in the “2025-26 Office and Bell Times” section.
2025-26 Instructional Calendar
Please refer to our website for the 2025-26 Instructional Calendar and Kindergarten Alternating Days. This is also where we host our upcoming events and notable days, and where you can subscribe to our calendar.
Thank you To Our Guest Teachers
We’d like to express our sincere appreciation to the incredible guest teachers who stepped in to support our school community during teacher leaves of absence this year. Many thanks to Mr. DeVetten, Ms. Derksen, Mr. Bullivant, Ms. Erickson, Ms. Gordon, Ms. Atkinson, and Ms. Holden. Your flexibility, professionalism, and commitment to our students made a meaningful difference, and we are so grateful for the care you brought to our classrooms.
We are not quite ready to say good-bye to Ms. King filling in our grade 2 classroom while Ms. Martens is on maternity leave. We are excited to announce she will be staying with us for the completion of Ms. Martens' leave next year!
2025-26 Special Events Line-up
We have a lineup of new and returning onsite activities and residencies that we are excited to announce as we have been busy planning for the new year and wanted to share with you as a sneak preview. The goodbye at the end of a school year can be a little bittersweet, especially after all the fun, learning, and memories we’ve made together. We’ve shared laughs, challenges, accomplishments, and friendships that made each day special. Now, it’s time for a well-deserved break! As we say goodbye to the 2024-25 school year, we hope you have an amazing summer—exploring new things, relaxing, and spending quality time with your loved ones. We’ll miss you and can’t wait to see you again in September!
For others moving on to new schools, cities and countries, we wish you continued success and are happy Jennie Elliott has been a part of your school journey.
With gratitude,
Lucene Tahmazian
