Hello Jennie Elliott families,  

Well, that was a jam-packed week! Holiday Happiness Week set the tone for all kinds of festivities and fun for all. Thank you to the teachers who organized the week of activities, as well as the Student Leadership Club who prepared a series of awesome challenges that engaged the whole school.  We ended with a very cozy gathering in the gym in our PJs for a sing-a-long and storytime today! Pictures that captured the week-long fun will be up on the school tv’s when we return in January! 

We also recognized the Winter Solstice that is already upon us. In our classes we explored both the science behind this natural phenomenon and the cultural traditions associated with it. Winter Solstice holds special significance for many Indigenous peoples, who have long celebrated the changing of the seasons with ceremonies and storytelling that honour the cycles of nature and the balance of light and darkness. Let’s celebrate this special time of year and look forward to the warmth and light that will come in the days ahead.  

There are many celebrations that will happen over the next weeks. No matter who or what you celebrate, we wish everyone a restful and relaxing break and hope you are able to rejuvinate and connect with those who are important to you! As the story shared with us today, “May peace walk beside you, wherever you are.”

The School Council would like to wish the whole community of Jennie Elliott a wonderful holiday season with family and friends. Thank you to everyone who selflessly gives of their time every year to support this community. We are so grateful. A special thanks to the whole staff of Jennie Elliott. We see the love, care and support you sow into our children on a daily basis - Thank You! See you at our next School Council meeting on February 4, 2025.
