Hello Jennie Elliott families!
The sun showed up for our Welcome Back & Meet the Teacher event, and so did our Jennie Elliott community! Once again, this event did not disappoint, reminding us that a school is so much more than a building - it is a community of people who come together to learn, connect, and share a sense of belonging.
Thank you to our teachers for organizing this evening opportunity for our families, and to our School Council for arranging a space for camaraderie, information sharing and good food!

Acting Assistant Principal Update
As shared earlier, Mr. Sebastien Fournier joined us at the beginning of the year as Acting Assistant Principal for the beginning few weeks of the school year, while Ms. Hynes is away on a leave of absence. Today was Mr. Fournier’s last day at Jennie Elliott, and we want to thank him for his support, during our busy start-up period. In a short time, Mr. Fournier has made meaningful connections with our students and families and has quickly become a familiar and welcoming presence in our school. We sincerely appreciate the care and enthusiasm he has brought to his work with our community. Please join us in thanking Mr. Fournier and wishing him all the very best in his next chapter!
On Monday, we will welcome Ms. Dianne Kaine as our new Acting Assistant Principal. Some of you may recognize Ms. Kaine, as she was part of the Jennie Elliott community approximately four years ago, when she served in a similar capacity for a few months. We are delighted to welcome her back to Jennie Elliott and know that her previous experience with our school and community will help make for a smooth transition. Thank you for helping me give Ms. Kaine a warm Jennie Elliott welcome on Monday! Ms. Kaine can be reached at dckaine@cbe.ab.ca .

Learning Through Truth and Reconciliation
As we approach National Truth and Reconciliation Week, we are excited to welcome Chantal Chagnon of Cree8 to Jennie Elliott School on Sept 23, 24, 28, 29. Chantal will share her talents in drumming and storytelling, creating meaningful opportunities for our students to listen, learn and deepen their understanding of Indigenous histories, cultures and perspectives.
We are especially excited to use our new outdoor gathering space for this experience, weather permitting! Once the schedule is finalized, teachers will share their class time with families as you are welcome to join us to watch the learning unfold.
We are grateful to Chantal for sharing her knowledge and talents with our students as we come together to recognize, honour and learn during National Truth and Reconciliation Week.
Save the Date! Terry Fox Run
Last year we celebrated the 45th anniversary of the Marathon of Hope. Our school raised $3335 dollars for cancer research with the 2025 national campaign raising a record $16.7 million for cancer research. Our school is excited to take part in the annual Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope school run again this year. Terry started a marathon against cancer. Together, we can help finish it.
