Hello Jennie Elliott families,
This week we had our last School Council meeting of the year. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our Executive and committee members for their outstanding dedication, support and collaboration to help make this a vibrant, thriving school community. It has been a pleasure to work with all School Council members, which includes families who join the meetings whenever they can, as it is another opportunity for parents to lend their voice and to share information about Jennie Elliott that impacts our student successes at school.
Playday
We are excited to announce that our annual Play Day will be held on Wednesday, June 26! Please hold the date and mark your calendars for this fun-filled event. This year’s theme is the Colourlympics! We welcome volunteers to help make the day a success, so if you're interested, ensure your volunteer clearance is up to date. More information about how to sign up will be provided as we get closer to the day. Stay tuned for updates!
School Performance
On June 4 at 2 PM, we look forward to sharing in a school-wide performance from a theatre company called HeARTbeat Theatre. The story they perform, called Hear, They Be Dragons, takes place in a fictional world involving castles, wizards and mystical groundskeepers who helps discover that an unruly stallion is not ill-tempered but hard of hearing. The actors incorporate ASL (American Sign Language) and incorporate the science of sound to tell the story about the importance of inclusion and diversity. We will have limited room for some parents if they wish to join, but the performance will take place on the floor of the gym, which leaves just enough room for our 580 students.
Early Dismissal – Last Day of School
The last day of school, Thursday, June 27, is a System-wide early dismissal day. That means we will follow the Friday early dismissal schedule with a shorter lunch, and dismissal at 1:21 PM.
Volunteer Appreciation
The Jennie Elliott School community is excited to invite parent volunteers from the 2023-2024 school year to attend the Volunteer Tea! From assisting with field trips, helping out in classrooms and supporting with school events, we are so grateful and ready to celebrate all of our school volunteer's hard work! Please RSVP by May 31. Looking forward to seeing you there!
