Hello Jennie Elliott families,

A very Happy New Year to all of you! It is a special time of the school year for all of us to re-set, review and set new goals as we settle in to the back half of the year. Our staff were treated to a Happy New Year surprise on the first day back, then donned hats, tiaras and noisemakers to have some fun welcoming our students back into class!  We heard many stories shared by students about far-away travels and stay-cation adventures that families enjoyed over the break. We wish all of our Jennie Elliott families the best that 2025 can offer!

2025-26 New Registrations!

Kindergarten registration for the 2025-26 school year will begin on Monday, January 13, 2025. If you have a child ready to begin Kindergarten next year, or you know of someone who has a child ready to attend Jennie Elliott Kindergarten next year, please refer to the CBE Kindergarten Information webpage for further information. We will be holding our Kindergarten information session on February 20, 2025 at 6:00pm for parents/guardians to hear information about the Jennie Elliott Kindergarten program and ask any questions you may have of the Administration and teaching teams.

Families with students entering grades 1-6 who wish to register at Jennie Elliott for the 2025-26 school year can also submit their registrations beginning Monday, January 13, 2025 if they are within the Jennie Elliott catchment area.

Please refer to the CBE’s Registration webpage for further information.

K-3 Provincial Assessments

Universal screeners are assessments that measure a learner’s proficiency in different skills. In the Calgary Board of Education, teachers administer provincially mandated literacy and numeracy screening assessments in kindergarten to grade 3. Kindergarten students will experience their first round with these screeners in January, while grades 1-3 will experience their second round. Please read more about this from our CBE brochure, Understanding Universal Screeners

Report Cards

On January 27th, your child’s report card will be available to view in your MyCBE portal. The report card is one of the ways teachers communicate how your child is progressing in their learning. Teachers also communicated learning progress through School Conferences held earlier before the Winter Break, your child’s daily assignments, assessments in PowerSchool, and other ongoing communication with you.  If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher.

News from JEPSA - Jennie’s Night Out!

Our second Jennie’s Night Out Gala and Silent Auction is coming April 11, 2025 at the Earl Grey Golf Course! Planning for this event is underway and we can't wait to have a great community building event with all of you. This event consists of a super fun gala night out for parents/guardians of Jennie Elliott at Earl Grey featuring a live auction at the event (more details to come on this) and an online silent auction before the Gala for anyone to participate in.

If anyone would like to donate to this incredible event for the online silent auction we are gathering silent auction items now. Last year we had an incredible amount of support from our school community and a lot of businesses throughout Calgary. Ideas for silent auction items include: gift cards, hotel/resort stays, sporting event tickets, concert tickets, gym and fitness passes, passes to experiences (Activate, Rec Room, Calaway Park, Calgary Zoo, Telus Spark Science Centre, etc), gift cards to local businesses, gift baskets, services (car services, massages, facials, tutoring, etc), art.

If you are interested in donating or getting more details about this event please email jennieelliott1962@gmail.com

For our first Jennie’s Night Out last year we raised just over $15,000 for math and literacy resources for the school. This year we will be raising money to enhance the outdoor learning spaces at the school, primarily focusing on our phase 2 plan of the outdoor learning space at the front of the school.
