Hello Jennie Elliott families,
Earlier this week, some of our students were sitting in front of our medicine wheel in the front hallway, reading the comments students had written on the hands prior to the Winter Break. One of the students told me, “It makes me feel good to read these, so that’s why I come here.” We have many ways our students can regulate throughout the day including sitting with our fish, Jennie and Elliott, taking a walking break throughout the school, visiting their buddy class, visiting with me, reading in the Learning Commons, or going on a gallery walk to see some of the displays on our bulletin boards.
I couldn’t agree more that the commitments to action that our students have written make me feel good too! Here’s a few samples, but if you haven’t seen them for yourself, please take a moment to visit the medicine wheel the next time you’re in the school:
Kindergarten Celebration of Learning & Choir Performance
Our Kindergarten families will be treated to a performance on January 23rd by our Kindergarten students following their One World Drumming residency next week. As a bonus, our Division II choir will also be performing some of the songs they have been preparing these past couple of months! Division II students will get a chance to see the performance in the morning, Division I students in the afternoon, and families can see the performance in the evening so that both the AM and PM classes can perform together at 5:00pm.
Lost and Found
Our Lost and Found collection is growing quite large! We had opportunities for families to sift through at conferences, and we have had our classes visit the Lost and Found, but many items remain unclaimed. Please note, on January 31st we will be donating any unclaimed items to support those in need as part of our commitment to give back to the community. We invite families to check the lost and found before January 31st during regular school hours.

News from JEPSA - Reminder - Jennie’s Night Out!
Our second Jennie’s Night Out Gala and Silent Auction is coming April 11, 2025 at the Earl Grey Golf Course! Planning for this event is underway and we can't wait to have a great community building event with all of you. This event consists of a super fun gala night out for parents/guardians of Jennie Elliott at Earl Grey featuring a live auction at the event (more details to come on this) and an online silent auction before the Gala for anyone to participate in.
If anyone would like to donate to this incredible event for the online silent auction, we are gathering silent auction items now. Last year we had an incredible amount of support from our school community and a lot of businesses throughout Calgary. Ideas for silent auction items include: gift cards, hotel/resort stays, sporting event tickets, concert tickets, gym and fitness passes, passes to experiences (Activate, Rec Room, Calaway Park, Calgary Zoo, Telus Spark Science Centre, etc), gift cards to local businesses, gift baskets, services (car services, massages, facials, tutoring, etc), art.
If you are interested in donating or getting more details about this event, please email jennieelliott1962@gmail.com.
For our first Jennie’s Night Out last year we raised just over $15,000 for math and literacy resources for the school. This year we will be raising money to enhance the outdoor learning spaces at the school, primarily focusing on our phase 2 plan of the outdoor learning space at the front of the school.
