Hello Jennie Elliott families,

We were excited to welcome Ms. Heregene and our facility staff back to the building today! They are very much a part of our JES family, and we wanted to share our gratitude for them.

Thank you to all families who met with teachers for Conferences and for your cooperation pivoting to the online format. We were still able to share valuable information about student progress and provide the opportunity for many of our students to be able to speak to their learning.

Thank you also to our grade 4 students for entertaining the school and their families at their learning celebration assembly. The students created beautiful music compositions with Ms. Ling inspired by a Cree story about the origin of the moon using percussion instruments and choral reading.

Spring Equinox

On March 20th, 2025 we honoured the Spring Equinox that marks the official start of spring in the Northern Hemisphere and autumn in the Southern Hemisphere. Our students learned from the teachings of Elder Saa’kokoto to appreciate the beautiful changes to Na’a (Mother Earth) and the important contributions of the light from Natosi (the sun).

Light is often used to represent hope, positivity and new beginnings. This Spring Equinox we reflected with our students on ways we can be Light Bringers. Light Bringers are those who spread peace and positivity, are always growing as people and learners, and are kind to themselves and others. Students shared their responses to a question they chose from the medicine wheel. Next time you’re in the building, we hope you take the opportunity to share the joy of these reflections!

News From School Council

Book Fair Huge Success!

Thank you to everyone who supported the Scholastic Book Fair this year. It was another HUGE success which provided such fun opportunities for the school and community. As a school we sold over $15,000 with a portion of each sale coming back to the school!! This is such a great fundraiser for the school as it promotes book love for our children and raises money for the school at the same time.

These events don’t run without significant commitment from a large number of volunteers. Thank you to everyone who volunteered this year, we are so grateful. A special shout out to Nisha who was an integral part of making this book fair such a success, your volunteering contribution doesn’t go unnoticed.
