Hello Jennie Elliott Families,

At this time of year in schools, we often talk about “having our feet in two seasons” - reflecting on the learning, growth, and data from the current year, while also looking ahead to how that information will shape our school development planning and organization for next year.

Today, our staff participated in a Professional Learning Day focused on continuing our collaborative learning and research about common literacy assessments for Kindergarten to Grade 6, progress monitoring, and analyzing student data to help guide our targeted literacy intervention groups throughout the year. Staff also worked together to explore ways to best utilize our resources and personnel to support the wide range of student academic needs, while continuing to address the social, emotional, and wellbeing needs of all students.

We value these opportunities to learn and grow together so we can continue providing the best possible support for every child at Jennie Elliott School.

Many thanks to our School Council for creating such a wonderful opportunity for us to begin our day together. A beautiful “cereal bar” spread filled our tummies, and the thoughtful cards of appreciation written by families at the Gala, in recognition of Teacher Appreciation Week, filled our hearts. We appreciate you for arranging such a meaningful and generous surprise for our staff!

Notes of Appreciation

PE Update from Ms. Joa

Students had an exciting opportunity to take part in a lacrosse residency with Coach Dan and Coach Matt from Elev8 Lacrosse. Throughout the sessions, students learned and practiced a variety of lacrosse skills such as scooping, passing, and shooting, while also having fun trying stick tricks like “painting a circle.” The residency focused on skill development, teamwork, and building confidence in a sport that was new for some students and a familiar favourite for others. It was wonderful to see students engaged, active, and encouraging one another as they learned and practiced together. A big thank you to our School Council and the Parent Society for generously funding this opportunity for our students.

School Council (JESC) and Parent Society (JEPSA) Update

A heartfelt thank you to our entire Jennie Elliott community for the incredible turnout and overwhelming support at this year’s gala fundraiser. We are so grateful to all of the parents, families, staff, community members, sponsors, and guests who helped make the evening such a tremendous success.

Not only was the gala super fun, the funds raised in support of Jennie Elliott School exceeded expectations and will make a meaningful impact for our students and school community. Your generosity and belief in our school are deeply appreciated.

We look forward to sharing more details about the total funds raised and celebrating the success of the event at our next School Council meeting - also our AGM - on June 2nd. We hope to see our strongest parent representation of the year as we set the School Council budget priorities and vote in the 2026–27 School Council executive.
