Hello Jennie Elliott Families,

Parent Volunteer Opportunity | Grade 6 PAT’s

We are seeking parent volunteers to support our upcoming Grade 6 English Language Arts and Literature PAT assessment. We are looking for parents who are able to either read exam questions aloud to students or scribe students’ dictated responses verbatim.

The assessment will take place at the school on Monday, May 25, 2026, beginning at 9:00 a.m. While some students may finish earlier, students may have up to four hours to complete the exam.

If you are interested in volunteering, please ensure you have a current police security clearance on file with the school and contact our Assistant Principal, Asha Hynes, at adyanko@cbe.ab.ca to express your interest.

Thank you in advance for considering this opportunity to support our students. Your time and willingness to help make a meaningful difference, and we truly appreciate your support.

Lost and Found

Our school’s Lost & Found is overflowing with winter jackets, snow pants, mittens, hats, boots, and sweaters! Please encourage your child to check the Lost & Found area for any missing items before Friday, May 15th.

Any unclaimed items after this date will be donated to a local charity. Thank you for helping us reunite these items with their owners!

Class Cohorts 2026-27

Please see April 24th's Weekly Update for more information about the creation of our class cohorts for the 2026-27 school year.

Elementary School Track and Field City Championships

The Elementary School Track & Field City Championships will take place on Saturday, May 31 and is open to students in Grades 3–6. This event is designed to build physical literacy through fun and inclusive experiences in running, jumping, and throwing, helping to address a gap in opportunities for younger students.

Please refer to the 2026 Alberta Elementary Schools Championships document if you are interested in signing your child up for this opportunity.

School Council (JESC) Update

We had a great School Council meeting on Tuesday with a wonderful presentation by the Grade 3 teaching team. Every council meeting we get the honour of hearing a different grade team present and it is a definite highlight. As we have been recently communicating, the Jennie Elliott School Council is at a critical point and in order to continue we urgently need more people to help us run the council moving forward into next year. If we don't fill these positions below and other members at large positions the council will not be able to function as is and that means the school community events, residencies, extra curricular supplies, etc that we have all come to love will unfortunately have to scale back. If you have wanted to get a little more involved or just simply want to learn more, please either email jennieelliott1962@gmail.com or fill out this form to express interest and someone from council will reach out to you directly.

Positions we are actively looking to fill are:

  • Secretary - Someone to attend meetings and take notes, we are looking into an AI program that then would require a review and revision after each meeting.
  • Members at Large - People who are wanting to attend meetings and be involved (8 meetings per year, looking to have a voice and/or learn more about the school and what is happening on a daily)
