Hello Jennie Elliott families,
Thank you to those families who have signed up to fill volunteer spots for the Book Fair and to School Council for organizing this tremendously popular event for our school! There are still several unfilled spots remaining. Please consider signing up here, so we can continue to offer shopping for families during School Conferences.
Jacket Racket Donations
Thank you to JES families who contributed to our Jacket Racket donation drive this year. In a short time, we had numerous large bins filled with gently used (and some brand new!) warm clothing for those in need. We appreciate the thoughtfulness and generosity of our Jennie Elliott School community.
School Conferences
School Conferences are an important part of the reporting process that helps parents stay informed of the progress their child is making with grade level curricular outcomes. Another opportunity for teachers to share student achievement is through the report card, and this year, the first semester report cards will be available to parents in CBE through the MyCBE portal on February 24, 2025.
A reminder to families, if you have not already, please book a School Conference with your child’s teacher through your MyCBE portal. For instructions on how to book your conference, please visit: MyCBE Conference Booking Support. School Conferences are scheduled for the evening of November 27th from 3:45-7:45pm, and November 28th from 8:30am-3:00pm.
School Pictures Are Ready!
Your child’s school pictures are now available! To view them online, please log in to your account at mylifetouch.ca. If you don’t have an account yet, you can create one using your email address. You’ll need your student’s ID number to locate their photos.
Important: If you don’t know your student’s ID number, please do not contact the school. Paper proofs containing your login credentials will be sent to your home shortly once they arrive at the school, allowing you to view the images online.
Bonus: All families can also order a FREE digital Pictures2Protect Card—a great way to keep your child’s photo and emergency info handy. Learn more about the Pictures2Protect program here.
If you would like your child to retake their photo, or they missed school photo day, please send an email to your child’s teacher to inform them that you would like your child to have their photo taken on December 8, retake day.
School Council Updates
Gingerbread House Decorating Night
Jennie Elliott's Gingerbread House Night is a beloved annual tradition where families can enjoy a festive night together decorating a gingerbread house in the school gym. The School Council once again invites families to join us on Thursday, December 11, in one of three time slots:
- 6:00 - 6:45
- 6: 55 - 7:40
- 7:45 - 8:30
Houses are $25 each, and there is also an option to donate houses to our school community. The Gingerbread Night organizers would like to thank our wonderful Jennie Elliott Community for your patience as we worked through some challenges with our online reservation system. The website is now up and running!
Jennie Elliott School Council wants all families to participate in this event and does not want cost to be a barrier. Please see the order section of the School Council website about how we can make this more affordable for families to participate.
Volunteers make this evening happen, and the organizing committee is looking to add to their team! More information is available online at www.jennieelliott.ca.
Next School Council Meeting
School Council is an opportunity for all parents of the school and school staff to who work together to support the school, share ideas, and help make decisions that strengthen the learning community. It’s a friendly, welcoming way for families to stay informed, get involved, and have a voice in their child’s school experience. Our next School Council Meeting will be on December 16 at 6:30pm in the Learning Commons, and all families are invited to attend.
