Hello Jennie Elliott families,

We have certainly felt the change in the weather - the bite in the air and the need for extra layers when we leave the house in the mornings! The calendar is busy at Jennie Elliott and we are excited to dig in to fall learning indoors and outdoors.

Thank you for staying up-to-date with school and classroom happenings through our email updates. If you have any suggestions for information you would like included, please reach out to us. We are always looking for ways to connect home and school communication in meaningful ways.

School Pictures Are Ready!

Your child’s school photo proofs have been sent home today. Order forms are due back Thursday, October 24th. You can also log in to your account on mylifetouch.ca to view and order or create an account using your student's student ID number. All families can also log on and order a FREE digital Pictures2Protect Card. More about the Pictures2Protect program here.  Photo re-take day will be November 6th

Take Me Outside

Next week, our school will be taking our learning outdoors to join schools across Canada in Take Me Outside Week. This nation-wide initiative encourages outdoor learning and exploration as a way to promote environmental awareness and enhance educational experiences beyond the classroom. Classes will participate in a variety of ways - community walks, land-based learning, working in our courtyard.  Instead of sitting at desks all day, we’ll be using the fresh air and the outdoors as our learning environment.

Thank you for ensuring students are dressed appropriately to take their learning outside next week.

Parking

We have had many requests from our neighbours to the west of us to ask families not to park in front of their driveways when dropping off or picking up students. We recognize that the parking zones are not ideal around the school, but blocking the homeowners’ driveways is not an option. We have also had reports of disrespectful language and gestures being used when residents are asking cars to move away from their driveway. We pride ourselves on representing a safe, welcoming and caring learning environment at Jennie Elliott. Please help us to carry that message out into the community by example.

Jacket Racket Collection Begins

As mentioned last week, on Monday we will be starting to collect donations of gently used coats, snow pants, hats and mittens for Jacket Racket this year. The bins are located in the front foyer of the school and will be there until October 31st. Thank you for your generosity for those in need.
