Hello Jennie Elliott families!
The week of the Fall Equinox provided a beautiful opportunity for our students to experience the changing season in a very special way. With September 23 marking the Fall Equinox, classes had their first opportunity to gather in our new Outdoor Learning Garden - a space created to connect learning with the land and provide students with a place to pause, observe, wonder and reflect.
As we say farewell to summer and welcome fall, we notice the days growing shorter, the crispness in the morning air, and the leaves beginning to change colour. Fall is a time of gathering and preparation, and the land offers us many signs and teachings during this transition.

Honouring Truth and Reconciliation
Next week, our school community will also take time to honour the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This is an important opportunity for our students to learn, reflect and deepen their understanding of the experiences and histories of Indigenous peoples in Canada, while considering our shared responsibility for reconciliation.
Students are invited to wear orange on Monday, September 29, in recognition of Orange Shirt Day. As we gather together as a school community, we encourage families to take this opportunity to talk with their children about the meaning behind the orange shirt and the importance of ensuring that every child feels a sense of belonging, safety and respect.
Gratitude to Ms. Morrison!
Jennie Elliott would like to offer our deepest gratitude to Ms. Denise Morrison for spending three very important weeks with us as we transition during one of our busiest months to our new Administrative Secretary. Ms. Morrison's kindness and expertise has been very appreciated as we welcomed new families, settled our classes and established our start-up processes for the year.

There are still a few that we are missing, so if you have not done this, please log into MyCBE, click the SchoolEngage icon, then there will be a link for the forms to be completed. This is a requirement by the Alberta Government to be completed by September 29th and is tied to the funding for your children. We appreciate your cooperation.
Raising Readers: Practical Tips for Parents

- Teacher Presentation: How you can support your child at home with reading and writing
Our Raising Readers presentation is an excellent opportunity for families to learn how we approach literacy instruction from Kindergarten through Grade 2 and, most importantly, understand the specific ways you can support your child’s reading development at home. Attending this session will help ensure that the strategies you use at home complement what we are teaching at school, giving your child consistent support as they build the foundational skills, confidence, and love of reading they need to become successful readers.
