Hello Jennie Elliott families!
Our final week of the 2025–26 school year certainly did not disappoint! From classroom celebrations to year-end traditions, and many opportunities to learn, laugh, and celebrate together, it was the perfect way to bring another incredible year to a close.
Farewell Gr 6’s!
This week, we celebrated an important milestone as we honoured our Grade 6 students at their Farewell Certificate Ceremony. For many of our students, Jennie Elliott has been their home for seven years, making this one of the longest chapters of their educational journey.
As they reflected on the friendships, experiences, and memories they have created over the years, we were reminded of the lasting impact our school community has had on their lives. While we will certainly miss seeing them in our hallways each day, we know they are ready for the opportunities that lie ahead and wish each of them every success as they begin this exciting next phase of their lives.
PlayDay
With beautiful weather, smiling faces, and endless energy, students enjoyed a PlayDay filled with fun and friendly competition. A heartfelt thank you goes to our dedicated staff planning committee, our many parent volunteers, and everyone who helped organize and run the day's activities. Despite the seemingly endless swarm of mosquitoes that decided to join the festivities, our students, staff, and volunteers were absolute troopers and didn't let the buzzing dampen the fun. The day concluded with one of Jennie Elliott's favourite traditions, the Grade 6 water balloon toss, which always brings plenty of laughter, cheers, and a memorable send-off for our eldest Jaguars!
Return to School
We will be welcoming our students back to school before we know it on August 31st for the first day of school. Our office re-opens on August 26th and you can expect an introduction email from teachers to their students on August 28.

2026-27 Special Events Line-up
We're already looking ahead to another exciting year of learning, with a wide variety of enriching experiences being planned both on and off campus.
Thanks to the ongoing support of our School Council and Parent Society, every grade will participate in three outdoor learning experiences designed to extend classroom learning, foster curiosity, and strengthen students' connection to the natural world and our community. Some of the experiences currently being planned include:
- Shannon Terrace and the Environmental Education Centre at Fish Creek Park
- Ann and Sandy Cross Conservation Area
- Leighton Art Centre
- The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland
- Yellow Steps Education
- City Parks and Recreation
- Weaselhead Preservation Society
- Jumpingpound Creek
- SOGO Orienteering and Outdoor Adventure
In addition, our Grade 6 students will continue the long-standing Jennie Elliott tradition of attending the week-long Camp Chief Hector Outdoor School in October. We are also thrilled that our Grade 4 students have once again been selected to participate in the week-long Chevron Open Minds residency. This year's program will focus on Calgary's urban environment, development, and innovation, with learning based out of the Dr. Carl Safran Centre.
Students will also enjoy several week-long sport and activity residencies throughout the year, including:
- Alberta Netball Association
- Frisbee Rob
- Floor Hockey, sponsored by the Calgary Flames Foundation
- Calgary Minor Soccer Association in partnership with Cavalry FC
- Sound Kreations In-School Dance Program
- Cross-country skiing with the Foothills Nordic Ski Club
These are just some of the exciting learning opportunities already confirmed for the coming school year. We look forward to sharing even more as additional experiences are finalized.
2025-26 That’s a Wrap!
The end of the school year is always a special time for reflection. Together, we have celebrated learning, built lasting friendships, discovered new interests, overcome challenges, and created countless memories. The routines and connections we share each day become such an important part of our lives, making it difficult to say goodbye, even as we look forward to the excitement and renewal that a new school year will bring.
Beyond the events and celebrations, we are especially proud of the ongoing work we do to strengthen our school community. Together, we strive to build a safe, caring, and welcoming learning environment where every student feels they belong, is supported to succeed, and knows they are valued. By placing kindness, respect, and inclusion at the heart of all we do, we create the relationships and sense of community that have the greatest and most lasting impact.
None of this would have been possible without the unwavering commitment of our incredible staff, dedicated volunteers, engaged families, School Council and Parent Society, and community supporters. Thank you for partnering with us throughout the year and for helping make Jennie Elliott such a vibrant and caring school community.
As we close the chapter on the 2025–26 school year, we wish all of our families a wonderful summer filled with rest, adventure, and time together. Enjoy every moment of your well-deserved break. We will miss you and look forward to welcoming everyone back in September for another exciting year of learning, growth, and Jaguar Pride!
For others moving on to new schools, cities and countries, we wish you continued success and are happy Jennie Elliott has been a part of your school journey.
With much gratitude,
Principal Tahmazian and the Jennie Elliott School staff
